Weil Valley cycle route

When people used to travel through the Taunus, the journey was always a real adventure with dark forests, long distances and very few other travellers. In the evening, weary travellers would head into cosy inns with crackling fires, hearty meals and some protection for the night. When you travel along the Weil Valley cycle route, you may feel like you've stepped back in time. It sticks to the banks of the River Weil from its source in the Upper Taunus to its mouth in the River Lahn. It starts with dense forests and wild countryside. You'll then head up and down the hill before enjoying a leisurely ride on the romantic path to Weilburg. Instead of thieves, it is now the Weiltal bus that awaits at every corner. It welcomes cyclists too (weekends, 1st May to 31st October). www.taunus.info
