Visit Hessen - Virtually!

It may not currently be possible to see Hessen's countless historic sights, visit its extraordinary selection of museums and galleries or take in its panoramic landscapes, but a virtual trip to Hessen is a wonderful way to enjoy its cultural offerings from afar!

Frankfurt

A fantastic range of Frankfurt's cultural offerings have been made available online. Amongst others, you can enjoy regular online performances by the Frankfurt Radio Symphony orchestra, access the Senckenberg Museum's natural history exhibits, or download a virtual reality app for Frankfurt's newly reconstructed old town. The current Fantastic Women exhibition at the SCHIRN KUNSTHALLE is available to view on YouTube, and there are some fantastical craft ideas available to go complement it.

Further information about the current situation in Frankfurt and links to more of the city's virtual cultural offerings are available on the official Frankfurt Tourism website, where you can also buy vouchers for future guided city tours.

Wiesbaden

Virtual versions of the Wiesbaden Museum's current exhibitions are available on the Wiesbaden App (downloadable in the App Store and Google Play Store). Keep your eyes on the social media channels of the Hessen State Theatre for short, one-off performances from world class musicians.

More information about the current situation in Wiesbaden is available on the official Wiesbaden city website.

Darmstadt

You can visit the Mathildenhöhe virtually using the Mathildenhöhe Darmstadt App, which will take you through a journey through time with historical images superimposed over up to date photographs to illustrate how the Mathildenhöhe evolved during and after the Jugendstil Artists' Colony. The App is available to download for iOS and Android via the App Store and Google Play Store, but there is also a web version available on the official Darmstadt city website, where you will also find up to date information about the current situation.

Hanau

A live performance of Dornröschen (Snow White) Sleeping Beauty is available to view on the Brothers Grimm Festival Facebook page, where you'll also find a selection of other theatrical and musical videos from current performers and previous festivals (in German).
