Burgwaldpfad

The beginning and end of the 50-kilometre Burgwaldpfad trail allows you to discover haunted alleyways and romantic corners of the historical old towns of Marburg and Frankenberg. Bordered by the Lahn and Eder rivers, it spans along one of the largest contiguous forest areas in Hessen, which surprises amazed walkers again and again. read more

Ederhöhenpfad

Forested mountains line up in subtle curves, traditional villages nestle in green valleys and the meandering Eder flows through it all. It is always a great and invigorating experience to walk along a river. The Ederhöhenpfad begins on the edge of Beddelhausen, close to the border with North Rhine-Westphalia, and is marked with a white E with a blue swipe. read more

Habichtswaldsteig

85 kilometres of hiking trail with a unique level of diversity - welcome to the Habichtswaldsteig. This tour through the Habichtswald nature reserve begins on the Marktplatz square in the town of Zierenberg. The silhouette of a hawk's head is your constant companion along the trail and ensures that everyone reaches their destination of Lake Edersee. read more

Grimmsteig

If you go walking in North Hessen, the home of the Grimms, you simply have to walk along the Grimmsteig. Measuring around 77 kilometres, it is one of the shorter long-distance hiking trails but it does not lack in any other respect. The ascent and descent are not overly excessive, making it ideal for those new to hiking. read more

Rothaarsteig

When the 154-kilometre Rothaarsteig opened in 2001 as a premium trail, no-one would have expected the changes to the quality of the hiking route and the boom that would ensue. "The path of the senses" takes you from Dillenburg and through the Rothaargebirge nature reserve, following the main ridge of the forested mountains to the town of Brilon in the Sauerland. read more

Urwaldsteig Edersee

Hessen's only national park is situated to the north of the state. The expansive beech forests (fagus sylvatica) have become very rare and are thus of great significance, both nationally and internationally.
