Discover something new in the heart of Germany

This glorious landscape has a mix of expansive forests, glittering lakes, moors, meadows and fields. The Naturpark Lahn-Dill-Bergland is located in the centre of Hessen. It’s a premium hiking park in which the diverse countryside is utilised carefully and preserved for generations to come.

You can enjoy expansive views across the countryside and idyllic valleys from breezy hilltops and tall lookout towers. Hessen’s youngest nature reserve offers a wide range of experiences across its almost pristine natural and cultural landscapes. The Lahn-Dill-Bergland-Pfad trail is an undiscovered gem among long-distance hiking trails. It has been awarded the “premium trail” quality seal by the German Hiking Institute and covers some 86 kilometres of nature reserve land between the timber-framed towns of Dillenburg and Herborn and the university town of Marburg. Abandoned quarries, rocky landscapes appearing out of nowhere, romantic castles and ancient ruins all combine to create varied walking experiences. If you’d rather go on a shorter walk, the Naturpark Lahn-Dill-Bergland has a lot to offer. A range of lovely round walks, spanning from seven to 36 kilometres in length, have been certified as official extra tours and give walkers the chance to discover the various sides of the region and its sights. From day tours to half-day tours, all the paths have a circular design and include excellent infrastructure like signposts to stop you getting lost, meaning you can go on a nice stroll without much preparation. Special routes like the “Bickener Ritterspuren”, “Streuobstroute”, “Haubergstour”, “Schauinsland” and ”Steinperfer Runde” will show you the region’s key features. Cyclists are spoilt for choice: There are five cycle routes between 25 and 245 kilometres in length, and you can even explore the Naturpark Lahn-Dill-Bergland on horseback. There’s a huge network of bridleways with few restrictions for riders, giving you the best conditions to enjoy a holiday with your horse. You can even hire a horse from one of the many stables in the region, and there are plenty of horse-friendly guest houses.
