The north-south route from the Diemel to the Rhine shows all sides of Hessen: the densely forested north; the fairytale Kellerwald with its centuries-old beech trees; and bathing pleasure in Lake Edersee. It is well worth visiting Kellerwald National Park, located just off the route in Vöhl-Herzhausen. The cycle route to the south is full of rivers and streams. You'll cycle past Amöneburg, the former home of Boniface, and travel through the meadows of the Wetterau. Once you've crossed the Taunus, you'll enter a land of orchards and vineyards. You'll then travel 90 kilometres along the Rhine over the flat Hessian Ried.
